“Take a hike.” Simply the best
Of insults to be expressed.
Three words that invite the thrill
Of adventure that does fill
Lungs with a breath of fresh air,
Eyes with vision more aware,
Mind with fresh motivation,
Heart with love for creation,
Ears with the sweet sound of peace,
Hands that empty and release.
Then grasp poles, map of the land,
Or hold someone’s steady hand.
“Take a hike” is a short phrase
With long-term impact for days.
“Breathtaking” has new meaning
While peeping views and leaning
Against a tree for support.
Then that phrase doesn’t feel short.
But with each step, it’s closer,
Not the destination for
Often the end is the start.
The journey is the best part.
The experiences are
What it’s all about, by far.
There’s beauty in the valleys,
Just like the peak’s finales.
There’s purpose in the flat trails,
Highlighting the small details.
Taking a hike is giving
Thanks for the life we’re living.
So, please bring on the insult.
I’m ready for the result.
Throw in a “get lost” as well,
And that would be just as swell.
