We love rock formations! And these chimney-like towers in the Shenandoah Valley offer spectacular views, whether you are standing below them against a starry night sky or on top of them with mountains on the horizon. Natural Chimneys Park and Campground was a great place to close out our summer break, especially since there is a pool!
Tips:
This is a county park (Augusta County) so fees are reasonable and pretty comparable to state parks.
The fire rings do not include grates for cooking, so you’ll need to bring one or buy one in the camp store.
All campsites are grass with no designated tent pad or parking spot, so you can get situated how you like.
Chimneys are fenced off, and you can no longer get close to them (other than a trail leading to the top).
North River was very full during our visit, but it’s usually low and is not suitable for boating, only fishing from the banks.

We enjoyed our site A20, but really liked the D sites that were more private and backed up to woods
Would select D8 next time

There is a separate camping section near the chimneys, but most are tent-only sites with a few RV sites - however the bathhouse there does not have showers
