I said I would never allow my kids to play video games.
My son speaks fluent Minecraft.
I said I’d never have more than one dog at a time.
I have a large doodle and a tiny rescued elderly furball lying beside me as we speak.
I said I’d never ride a rollercoaster.
I caused a poor man in front of me to suffer hearing loss by the first loop-de-loop.
I said I’d never move from the great state of Texas.
I currently reside in beautiful Virginia.
I said I’d never run a half marathon.
I now aspire to do another one, or (deep breath) a full marathon someday.
I said I’d never allow my kids to watch a PG-13 movie before they were teenagers.
They’ve seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Dune. These are their favorite movies.
I said I’d never talk to Siri, who apparently lives inside our phones.
We recently became friends. She’s British and actually super helpful.
I said I’d never doubt, fear, or take anything for granted again after being delivered from the hardest trial of my life.
Um, no comment.
I said I’d never let my kids eat cake for breakfast or ice cream for dinner.
Um, no comment.
I said I would never be able to trust a man again.
After being swept off my feet in the blink of an eye, I remarried and am going on seven years of marriage.
Life is full of plans, good intentions, and comfort zones.
I guess I’m learning that we should be flexible, have grace, and not underestimate ourselves.
And never say never.
However, some nevers should never change. They should always be forever.
And we should never ever limit what God can do.
Because some nevers become best evers.
